The Room Hair Co is a creative hub for hairdressing and beauty, situated in the heart of Sandymount Dublin 4. Established by co-founders and hairdressing specialists Norma-Jean O’Reilly and Orla Boland. The Room aims to offer clients an empowering and enlightening salon experience by harnessing some of Ireland’s most creative hair and beauty experts, under one roof that exudes stylish positivity.
The Room Co-Owners Norma-Jean O Reilly and Orla Boland have both been working in the hairdressing industry for over twenty years. Their vision for The Room Hair Co was born out of their passion for high-fashion hairdressing, and when the perfect premises became available in Sandymount, Dublin 4, their vision was brought to life, in tranquil surroundings that inspires and promotes positive energy.
Both Norma-Jean and Orla found friendship while working in one of Dublin 4’s most prestigious hair salons. After a stint in the business world, Orla realised that her need to express herself creatively was too strong. She decided to leave business behind and began her hairdressing education in Zoo Hair Salon under some of the most talented hairdressers in the country.
Orla’s love for hairdressing saw her go on to work in some of the most prestigious salons that Ireland has to offer. Her passion for the high-fashion hairdressing also led to her styling; a plethora of Irish & UK celebrities, glossy magazine covers, national TV shows such as the coveted Late Late Show, Afternoon Show, Podge & Rodge and more! After taking some time out to complete her family, Orla returned to salon work where she met Norma Jean before the duo finally decided to go for their dreams and setup The Room Hair Co
It was always Norma-Jean’s destiny to be a hairdresser, as her family history is rooted in hairdressing.
Her unique approach to all aspects of hairdressing has earned her the title of Best Hair Stylist by the highly coveted Irish fashion and beauty IMAGE Magazine and RSVP Magazine. Norma Jean has worked on various national TV shows such as Operation Transformation and has accrued a number of celebrity clients such as Kathryn Thomas, Jess Redden & the Garrity sisters into her hairdressing arsenal, which has resulted in her becoming a household name. Having spent a decade behind the chair in 5-star salons such as Di-Milo and Brown Sugar, Norma Jean’s fantasy of becoming a salon owner, became a reality when the stars aligned at just the right time for her and Orla.
Both Orla and Norma-Jean bring a new perspective to high-fashion hairdressing in Ireland. By launching The Room Hair Co, both co-owners have been empowered to be more artistically creative while giving their customers an experience that goes well beyond just a haircut and colour.
The duo are skilled in all aspects of hairdressing including cutting, colouring, hair extensions and more, yet it is their natural ability for handcrafting unique styles suited to their clients that paved the way for their success, along with their warm and welcoming presence.
